Another IPL season and another makeover for the team from the national capital. They have been perennial underachievers in the IPL with nothing much to boast of. No appearance as yet in the Final of the IPL.Last season saw them winning only two matches out of 14.
DD is another team whose choice of skipper really baffled me. Angelo Mathews has been leading Sri Lanka for quite some time and to put the burden on Duminy's shoulders was unnecessary. One only hopes he doesnt suffer the same fate as KP.
There's no guessing who the star attraction at DD would be. Yuvraj Singh is a fan favourite and this IPL presents one final chance for Yuvi to make his comeback to the Indian team. The same cannot be said for the other senior addition to the team in Zaheer Khan. The team management has hinted a mentor role already and time seems to have run out for left arm seamer. The opening pair is a concern with the only regular opener De Kock not in good form. The Indian batsmen doesnt ooze confidence either and much will be left on the trio of Yuvi, Duminy and Mathews. With the Sri Lankan's injury concerns, how much he bowls in the tournament will be interesting to see.Albie Morkel hasn't quite lived upto his task an all rounder so again the balance of the squad is a concern.A genuine wicket taker in Shami provides strength to the bowling, so does the experienced Amit Mishra. G Sandhu, Courter Nile and Imran Tahir are the overseas picks, but a maximum quota of 4 means they could be let down by the lack of quality Indian players in the team.
